SAFETY GUIDANCE
EnglishUrgent Safety Guidance for Danish Nationals in Dubai
Threat Level: CRITICAL - Immediate Action Required
Given the ongoing ballistic missile attacks and active air defense operations, the safety of Danish nationals in Dubai is paramount. Follow these instructions immediately:
1. Shelter-in-Place IMMEDIATELY
- Stay Indoors: Do not leave your current location unless absolutely necessary for safety. This includes hotels, residences, and workplaces.
- Seek Reinforced Shelter: Move to an interior room, away from windows and exterior walls. Basements or ground floor interior rooms are preferable. If no basement, use the most central room on the lowest floor.
- Protect Yourself from Debris: If possible, shelter under sturdy furniture (tables, desks) to protect against falling debris from missile interceptions or structural damage.
- Stay Away from Windows: Glass can shatter violently during explosions or impacts. Keep curtains and blinds closed.
- Prepare for Power Outages: Have flashlights, battery-powered radios, and fully charged mobile phones ready.
2. Areas to Avoid
- Airports: DXB and DWC are closed. Do NOT attempt to travel to or from these locations.
- Major Infrastructure: Avoid areas near military installations, government buildings, critical infrastructure, and tall buildings.
- Open Spaces: Do not be in open areas, beaches, or parks where you are exposed to falling debris.
- Incident Sites: Stay far away from any reported impact or fire sites, such as the area near Fairmont The Palm.
3. Communication Advice
- Emergency Services: Dial 999 for Police, 997 for Ambulance, 998 for Fire in case of immediate life-threatening emergency.
- Limit Phone Use: Only use mobile phones for essential communication to keep networks clear for emergency services.
- Inform Loved Ones: If safe to do so, briefly inform family and friends of your safety status. Use messaging apps if calls are difficult.
- Monitor Official Channels: Follow official UAE government announcements (e.g., NCEMA) and the Danish Embassy's social media/website for updates.
4. If Caught Outside
- Seek Immediate Shelter: Enter the nearest sturdy building, preferably an underground parking garage or a multi-story concrete structure.
- Lie Down: If no immediate shelter is available, lie flat on the ground, covering your head and neck with your arms, and wait for the immediate threat to pass.
- Avoid Overpasses/Bridges: These structures can be vulnerable to collapse.
